New Xiaomi smartphone coming to India on September 5, will it be Xiaomi Mi 5X? Know details

 

Xiaomi has officially announced a big launch event in India scheduled on September 5. The event has long been expected. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has released press invitations for the event to be held in New Delhi. This announcement has set the rumour mills running that it will be the 'global launch of the Xiaomi Mi 5x smartphone. If this happens, the Mi 5X will be the maiden dual camera phone by Xiaomi in India. While the press invite has reportedly not released anything about the device it will launch. However, it has informed the presence of a dual camera on the phone.

Xiaomi's media invite reads as: "Join us for the launch of our first dual camera smartphone in India". Clearly, the indication is that the focus of the event will be cameras. While the event has been speculated a lot earlier, the fact that the Xiaomi phone will have a dual camera setup is confirmed now. However, there is no surety on whether the company will launch the Mi 5X or not. It is possible that Xiaomi may reveal a completely new smartphone aimed at the Indian market.

Earlier in August, the company's India Vice President and Managing Director Manu Jain had informed that Xiaomi will announce its first dual camera phone in India next month. While the September launch was imminent, Jain too did not reveal which smartphone it will be. Still, it is expected that the device will be the Xiaomi Mi 5X.

The Xiaomi Mi 5X was already launched in China. This means we already know the details and features of the smartphones. When it comes to the specifications, The Xiaomi Mi 5X has a 5.5-inch Full HD display and runs on MIUI 9, based on Android 7.0 Nougat. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 625 processor. The device features 4GB RAM, 64GB internal memory and microSD card support (up to 128GB).

When it comes to the highlight, the cameras, Xaiomi Mi 5X features a dual-camera setup with one 12MP wide-angle lens and another 12MP telephoto lens. The device also comes with a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter for selfies. Xiaomi Mi 5X is backed by a 3080mAh battery and it supports USB Type-C port.

Price: In China, the Xiaomi Mi 5X has been priced at CNY 1,499. In Indian currency, it is around Rs 14,430. If this is the smartphone that Xiaomi is going to launch in India, expect the price to be under Rs 15000, a segment Xiaomi has complete hold of.
